Beginner/Continuing Oil Painting
Learn the basics of oil painting or continue improving those basic skills. Beginners start with the materials needed and move into painting exercises to learn various beginner techniques. Continuing students will improve existing and learn new techniques. Teens Welcome. Materials list provided, or bring your own oil supplies with you. We will start class with some basic materials. If you don't get them all together, by the first class, bring what you can. That will be fine.

|Notes:||2 Stretched canvases, primed/gessoed with white acrylic: size between 10" x 10" - 12" x 16" Box or newspaper, etc. to transport a wet canvas home flat in the car Palette- wood or other flat non-porous mixing surface (disposable is fine; not a watercolor type with little box separations) 2 Palette cups (with lids better) Paper towels/a few rags odorless turpentine or mineral spirits (odorless is preferred when working indoors in a shared space) 1 additional lidded jar (peanut butter size) Brushes: bristle 1"; 1/2" & 1/4" (2 each would be good) A palette/ painting knife (one about 1/4" - 1/2" wide) Liquin - painting medium (small bottle) Paints - Titanium White, Ultramarine Blue, Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Yellow medium or similar warm yellow, Transparent Red/Iron Oxide, if not, Burnt Sienna This should be fine to get us started. As with most supplies, there is a range of quality. Windsor Newton/Winton; Grumbacher; Gamblin - paints in those price ranges are decent. Additional useful colors: Sap Green, Cadmium Red, Phthalo Green, Transparent Oxide Yellow Art supplies local shops: Kennett Copy & More - 739 West Cypress St. - has art supplies at a discount & periodic extra sales.
