The Structure of Our Constitution
This is a 3 session course: 1. Address the system of carefully structured checks on the powers of the three branches of government, and on the federal government as a whole, and on the governments of the states, that are found in the Constitution as it became effective in 1788. 2. The Bill of Rights - This session addresses the first ten amendments to the Constitution, all ratifiedtogether three years after the Constitution itself became effective, that are commonly referred to as the Bill of Rights. 3. The Civil War's Impact on the Constitution- This class explores the impact of our country's bloodiest conflict on the Constitution and its interpretation, especially the Fourteenth Amendment.
