Pennhurst Asylum - abandoned, decaying and haunted!
Pennhurst State School and Hospital, originally known as the Eastern Pennsylvania State Institution for the feeble-minded and epileptic was an institution for mentally and physically disabled individuals of Southeastern Pennsylvania. After a much controversy, it closed on December 9, 1987. We have been granted permission to photograph this historic site that has been abandoned for 30 years and is in a state of decay. Many say this place is haunted by the souls of those who once resided there. Unique photographic opportunities are around every corner. Now is the time to take this workshop as developers recently purchased the property and is likely to be demolished soon. NEW this year: we have been granted special permission to access additional building! DSLR or Mirrorless camera and tripod with remote release recommended. Liability release required.
