Totally Fun Science (ages 8 - 11)
In this course students will be introduced to physics. They will have fun working together to explore classical mechanics through experimentation and building models. Students will use a variety of building materials to create models and test their ideas. Thinking like a scientist, students will use the scientific method to make hypothesis, test their theories, and collect data. The cartoons of Rube Goldberg will be analyzed, and students will use their artistic ability to create and share their own comic in the style of Rube Goldberg. Students will test Newton's Laws of Motion using simple machines. (levers, pullys, ramps, etc.) Students will work in groups to explore the forces of motion as we know them on earth, building models to test their hypothesis, designing, creating and testing their own Rube Goldberg Machine.
