We will begin with a brief introduction to the vocabulary of art, followed by overviews of major art historical periods from antiquity to the contemporary moment. We will learn to look closely and communicate what we see; analyze how ideas are conveyed through media, subject matter, and artistic style; and we will discuss major art historical concepts and themes.
