The continuing escalation of fresh produce prices, concerns about produce safety, shipping, and challenges from an increasingly hard to predict weather in the region might have you wanting to set up a productive vegetable, herb, and fruit garden. YES, you can easily grow your own produce - whether in raised beds, mixed in with the flowers or in containers on the deck! This workshop will teach you time saving and sustainable methods on how to set up and select the fruits, berries herbs and vegetables best suited for your family. Soil preparation, composting, seed starting, transplanting, care, irrigation, pest management, harvesting and preserving your abundant harvest will be covered. Techniques for extending your season in the spring and fall will also be discussed. Students will start tomatoes, eggplants, peppers or zucchini from seed.
