Want to start growing your own food? Come out to the farm, get dirty, and gain hands on experience with the essentials of the spring planting of a vegetable garden. Starting a vegetable garden creates connection with what you eat, weather variability, growing conditions, and the outdoors. During classes we'll be harvesting early spring veggies: lettuce, asparagus, greens, etc; preparing & sampling the fruits of the harvest; planting seeds: squash, corn, beans, etc; planting seedlings: peppers, tomoatoes, etc; and maintaining the garden: weeding, mulching, etc. You'll also be taking potted seedlings home so that you can start growing your own veggies this season. (this is the first of 3 gardening workshops: High Summer and Fall Harvest to follow later.) Takes place at Locust Hollow Sheep Farm.
Fee: $0.00
Hours:2.50
