Introduction to Crochet

This course will be geared towards adults with little or no crochet experience, but all levels are welcome! We will cover the basics of crochet, including the chain, single crochet, double crochet, triple crochet, the magic circle and how to finish a project. Students will have the opportunity to choose a project to work on over the course of the class, including a potholder, a scarf, or a coaster set. We will also learn how to read written patterns, noting the difference between U.S. and U.K. crochet terms, and discuss how to use Google, YouTube, etc to find patterns and video tutorials for new projects and stitches. Each week, we will learn one new crochet skill together as a class, then spend the rest of class practicing that skill and/or working on our projects. Students will spend this latter portion of each class working individually while the instructor does rounds providing individualized help. Students who master beginner skills quickly (or already know them) will have the opportunity to learn more advanced stitches, but the class will mostly be focused on the basics.
