240th Anniversary of the Philadelphia Campaign of 1777
We will examine the strategy, the campaign, and the leaders that were involved in a "Fortnight in Chester County in 1777." Preliminary topics will include Iron Hill and Cooch's Bridge in Delaware. The main focus will be on September 11, 1777, the day that shaped America, otherwise known as the Battle of the Brandywine. Other topics will include the "Battle of the Clouds," and Wayne's "affair." We will follow the other maneuverings around Chester County ending with the American forces at Valley Forge and the British and Hessians in our capital of Philadelphia.
